ORGANIZATION
The Orchard Lake Police Department is staffed by eight full-time
police officers and an administrative clerk and operates 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. Dispatch services are contracted
through West Bloomfield Police Department.
All of the officers are certified through the State of Michigan
as Medical First Responders and are trained as Automatic Defibrillator
Technicians. Trauma Bags and Automatic External Defibrillators
are carried in the patrol cars 24/7.

PROGRAMS
Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)
Since
the fall of 1995, Sergeant David Sims has operated the D.A.R.E.
program for sixth graders at Our Lady of Refuge School. Since
D.A.R.E.'s implementation, hundreds of students have been taught
skills to aid them in resisting drugs of all types including
tobacco and alcohol.
Crime
Prevention
Trained
through Detroit Police Department's Crime Prevention School,
Officer Michael Allen offers assistance to homeowners as well
as business owners in reducing your exposure to crime through
security assessments. Officer Allen has also presented personal
safety seminars with the assistance of guest speakers. Officer
Allen is available to speak to subdivision associations and
other groups in the City.
Concealed
Weapon and Purchase Permits
Applications
for concealed weapon permits and handgun purchase permits may
be obtained at the police department weekdays between 8:00 a.m.
and 4:00 p.m. There is no charge for fingerprinting residents
of the City. A Notary Public is normally available at City Hall.
